New Zealand Inventions.

Hello, My names Azire & today I will be talking to you about a Wind Turbine because it is made in    New Zealand.

The first electricity-generating wind turbine was invented in 1888 in Cleveland, Ohio by Charles F. Brush

A wind turbine is a device that converts the wind's kinetic energy into electrical energy. Wind turbines are manufactured in a wide range of sizes, with either horizontal or vertical axes.

A 1.5-kilowatt wind turbine will meet the needs of a home requiring 300 kilowatt-hours per month in a location with a 14 mile-per-hour (6.26 meters-per-second) annual average wind speed. To help you determine what size turbine you'll need, first establish an energy budget.

Wind turbines work on a simple principle: instead of using electricity to make wind like a fan wind turbines use wind to make electricity. Wind turns the propeller-like blades of a turbine around a rotor, which spins a generator, which creates electricity.

  1. Kia ora Azire. I'm guessing that the wind turbine was first used in New Zealand since the inventor was from America. They are very effective in windy places such as Wellington. It's a very smart and efficient way to generate electricity. Ka pai. Mrs Hastie
